How do I know if my donation is successful?
After you made a donation, you will receive an email within 3 working days about the donation status and the invoice number which you can track. If you do not receive an email within 3 working days, do contact our customer service team on

All donations made through Starlight are non-refundable

What is Starlight?
Starlight is a Singapore-based global charity dedicated to helping the poor living in rural slums, who lack access to electricity and proper lighting at home. We have successfully constructed a more sustainable option to the traditional electricity-powered light bulbs that we named Starlight.

Will 100% of the proceeds be used to help the poor stricken in darkness?
Yes! All proceeds will be used in the manufacturing and exporting of our products to our targeted regions. We understand that you may have doubts about us given the rising trend of charity scams. Therefore to ensure that we have your trust, we have provided photocopies of documents relating to our agreements with the foreign nations on this charity project. We can also provide our annual reports on the website to allow you to track our progress.
Are there miscellaneous fees are charged by Starlight?
For individuals and companies donating, we do not charge any fees. 100% of all donations go directly to help provide light for those in need.
Why should I donate?
Your donations will help to improve the livelihood of the less fortunate who have extremely limited access to the basic necessity of light in their homes. We hope that you will gain the satisfaction of making a difference in the lives of the underprivileged.
If a company makes a donation, will it be entitled to tax deduction?
Unfortunately, no, tax deductions are only available for participation in local charity projects.
Can I donate raw materials instead of money?
We appreciate the thought but at the moment we only accept monetary donations.
Can I donate anonymously?
Yes. During the donation process, you will be given an option to keep your identity anonymous.
Where will the products go after its lifetime expires?
Starlight bottle bulb has an extremely long life. The only part of the product which needs constant changing is the water that is filled into the bottle. If there is a need to change the entire device, all the parts are recyclable.
Will the offered countries be expanded to other regions in the future?
Yes, we aim to expand our project to other regions with a central focus on Asia first as it is where our center of operations lie. Eventually, we do aim to venture into South America and South Africa but it depends on the speed of our progress in Asia.
Where will the products be manufactured and how are they shipped to the destinations?
Our products will be manufactured in China and then shipped directly from China to the respective destinations.
Is this just a school project or will it be a long-term commitment?
Yes, though the project is headed by a group of university students, the entire project is still managed by our project leader Mr. Desmond Chow who plans to continue with this charity project for a long-term basis.
